Hora-Machacek holds monthly meeting

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 6 at the Clutier post home. President Veronica called the meeting to order at 1:40 P.M. Members present were Mary S, Collette W, Diane C, and Veronica P. Mary said prayer followed by ladies saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. Veronica called the roll and read November’s minutes. A correction was made and minutes were approved. Treasurer Diane gave our unit’s financial report. Mary made a motion to send a monetary amount to the Legion for fuel assistance for each month of December, January and February. Seconded by Collette and motion carried.

Marilyn S, Courtney C, Brittney S, and Riley S. put up the Christmas tree. Read a thank you from the Clutier First Responders for our monetary donation. Diane reported that she had delivered 39 pounds of carpet rags to IVH in Marshalltown.

Happy birthday was sung to Mary whose birthday is on the 25th. We acknowledged Collette and Richard on their 55th wedding anniversary which was on the 9th.

We are having a sewing day on January 3, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. Will have potluck lunch at noon and monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Besides sewing carpet rags and lap quilts, we cut and ball grocery sacks for crocheting sleep mats. We welcome anyone to come and help and enjoy fellowship and good food. If weather is in question, call Veronica at 641-236-3179 to verify the sewing day and meeting.

The door prize was won by Veronica. Mary said closing prayer and Collette retired the colors. Hostess was Veronica and she served bologna sandwiches and apple cake.
