Reading Through Time

Dysart, Traer libraries announce Sesquicentennial reading challenges

The Norma Anders Public Library is celebrating Dysart’s 150 years in 2023 with a year-long reading challenge. Read any 10 books set in 10 different decades from the 1870s to today and win a small prize for completing the challenge. All participants who complete the challenge will also be entered into a drawing for a larger prize at the end of the year. Forms are available at the library and on the library’s website www.dysart.lib.ia.us. The challenge begins January 1, 2023 and ends on December 31, 2023.

Decades Book Challenge

Traer will also be celebrating its Sesquicentennial this year and as such will be embarking on a Decades Book Challenge. Each month participants will choose a book corresponding to a specific decade. Books can be published in the chosen decade, be a book about an event from the decade, set in the decade, or any topic related to something from the decade. Books can be fiction or non-fiction. January will kick off with the 1870s – 1890s. Log sheets are available at the circulation desk, as well as a list of topics and book ideas. Adults and children can participate. Stop in or call the library for more information.
