Hora-Machacek Auxiliary holds sewing day

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day at the Clutier post home on Tuesday, February 7. The day started at 9 a.m. with the following ladies: Linda D, Collette W, Deb K, Brenda H, Pauline S, Diane C, Mary S, Rosemary V, and Veronica P. They sewed lap quilts and balled plastic grocery sacks strips for crocheting into sleep mats. Veronica had provided the cut squares for the lap quilts of which will make 20 quilts. Next will be to put middle and back on each quilt and to tie them. Anyone having sheets they no longer want, please give to an Auxiliary member as that is what we put in the middle of the lap quilts.

Delicious potluck at noon was enjoyed by all. After lunch clean-up, President Veronica conducted our monthly meeting. Mary S. said prayer. All recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the Constitution to the Legion Auxiliary. Veronica called the roll and read December minutes which were approved as read. No January minutes as there was no meeting.

Treasurer Diane C. gave a report on our finances. A monetary amount will be sent to the Clutier Library in memory of Vera Sevcik, Jean Miller, and Evelyn Caloud. A thank you was read from the South Tama County Food Pantry for our monetary donation in November. Mary S. made a motion to pay a monetary amount to the Legion to assist in paying for the new windows, seconded by Linda D. Motion carried.

Will be having a sewing day on March 7 beginning at 9 a.m., potluck at noon, and meeting in the afternoon. Sure would like to see anyone join us to assist with the balling of grocery bag strips or tying lap quilts. Come to enjoy fellowship and a delicious potluck at noon.
