The North Tama County Community School District announced last week that Andrew Knaack has been selected as the district’s next Varsity Football Coach.

Knaack is currently a physical education teacher at Janesville Community School District. He is also North Tama’s head wrestling coach, part of the Redhawk football coaching staff, and was recently appointed as North Tama’s new Athletic Director beginning this July following A.D. Taylor Wurth’s resignation.

According to a press release from the district, under Knaack’s guidance, the Redhawk wrestling program has grown in the number of student-athletes participating, community support, and success.

Prior to North Tama, Knaack also coached at the collegiate level as part of the Cornell wrestling team in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.

Knaack graduated from North Tama in 2001 and later from Wartburg College with a major in Fitness Management. He will soon graduate from Morningside University’s Teacher Intern Program with a Master’s degree in Secondary Education/P.E.

Knaack currently lives in the North Tama school district with his wife Nicole and children, Kolt, Emmet, and Julie.

Knaack’s appointment was approved during the Monday, May 15 meeting of the North Tama Board of Education. Coach Knaack will soon begin to work with the Redhawk football team to prepare for summer workouts.
