TRAER – Stop by the Traer Public Library next Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m. to meet Fiber Artist Megan Hammer, and learn how she creates beautiful artwork from felted wool.

By transforming wispy wool fiber into soft, strong felt, Megan explores the potential for harmony and collaboration with nature. She embraces the textures revealed through the felting process and presents intricate details to share botanical studies and explorations of our natural world.

Megan will give a short presentation about her inspiration and the process she uses to create her felted wool fine art. Following the presentation, she will demonstrate needle-felting and provide an opportunity for those attendees who stay to create a mini felted artwork. (Sharp needles will be used; caution is advised.) We will have supplies for 20 participants. Please come in or call the library to sign up for a kit. There is no cost.

Megan is the daughter of Glenn and Dorothy Thorne of rural Traer. She will bring examples of her felted fine art pieces to show. You can see more examples of her art pieces on her website http://www.meganhammer.com
