TRAER – Nine classmates from the Traer High School Class of 1961 didn’t hesitate to celebrate their 80th birthdays along with their hometown’s 150th year. On Saturday afternoon, August 12, they met at the Traer Historical Museum to reminisce and make new memories. The open house brought friends and family to the museum to enjoy being together and feel some town nostalgia. Hostess for the event was Marcella Pults, assisted by Adrienne Nelson and Mary Shultz. Everyone enjoyed listening to Roger Kubik, Class of ’62 , as he provided accordion music to add to the festive atmosphere. Table décor was done in red and white with rose bowls and classmates’ baby pictures, many taken by the Allaben Studio. Classmates who attended were Pat Earley Moore, Adrienne Cooper Nelson, Mary Fleming Shultz, Deanna Vesely Joebgen, Joanne Kucera Vlasak, Vivian Paustian Weuve, Ellen Pennell, Karlene Podhajsky Cochran and Marcella Podhajsky Pults. Traveling from a distance were Mary Shultz from Milwaukie, Oregon, and Marcella Pults from Colorado Springs, CO. In three years, this class will celebrate their 65th class reunion and they look forward to being together again.
