Knights take Knoxville title to end regular season

Klima marks 1,000 kills

Knoxville — The Knights (35-11) traveled to Knoxville last Saturday for one final volleyball tournament to end their regular season where they knocked down five teams in succession to secure the tournament title including 1A No. 3 Holy Trinity Catholic, 2-0 in pool play, and 4A No. 3 (now No. 5) ADM in both pool play, 2-0 and the final, 2-1 (21-15, 17-21, 15-10).

During the tournament, Knights captain Gracie Klima notched her 1,000th career kill. In the final, the senior outside hitter had 14 kills to lead the offense.

This week, the No. 8 Knights were scheduled to begin the postseason, facing unranked Iowa Falls-Alden (10-24) in La Porte City on Tuesday in a Class 3A Region 5 quarterfinal. The winner of the match will move on to the regional semifinal slated for Thursday also at Union High School where the victor will face either Roland-Story or Independence beginning at 7 p.m.

The Region 5 final will be played the following week on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
