North Tama alumna named AbbVie Thriving Scholar
TRAER – Last Thursday, Nov. 2, North Tama High School Class of 2023 graduate and former standout Redhawk runner Grace Lidgett was chosen as an AbbVie Thriving Scholar based on a submitted essay, her accomplishments, a creative project, and a public vote.
All 40 candidates who made it to the voting stage this year received an AbbVie CF Scholarship — a $3,000 scholarship funded by the pharmaceutical company AbbVie that recognizes exceptional students with Cystic Fibrosis — but as one of only two 2023 Thriving Scholar recipients, Lidgett will now also receive an additional $22,000 for college.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many people who voted for her and who have supported her on her cystic fibrosis journey,” Lidgett’s parents Tony and Amy Lidgett said following the announcement.
Lidgett is currently a freshman at Grace College at Winona Lake, Ind.
