TRAER – Last Saturday, Dec. 16, members of both the American Legion Auxiliary Post 143 and American Legion Post 142 along with Sons of the American Legion member Kennan Seda assembled and delivered 103 ‘Good Cheer’ boxes to area Veterans, local families with sons and/or daughters currently serving, as well as others in the greater Traer community.

The Good Cheer effort has been an Auxiliary tradition for many years. Boxes include fruit, a mix of homemade/storebought cookies and candy, and – new this year! – a kolache.

Auxiliary member Karen Podhajsky organized the boxes and contents; Auxiliary members donated cookies/candy; while the group collectively purchased the fruit, styrofoam boxes, and the all-important rubber bands to keep everything inside.

A card was included in each sealed box wishing the recipient ‘Good Cheer!’ for the holidays.

While Auxliary members assemble the boxes on Saturday morning, Legion members complete most of the deliveries.
