TOLEDO – The Feb. 12 meeting of the Tama County Board of Supervisors had more than a couple of items on the agenda, but like always, it kicked off with the engineer.

The engineer reported that they’ve been working on getting areas cleaned up and hauling rock to the muddier sections. With the lack of frost, they were able to replace a culvert in Traer.

The K Avenue bridge deck has solidified, so the rails will poured sometime during the week.

The engineer received an offer from the bridge grant funding to replace a Toledo bridge and will meet with Toledo sometime about it. A utility permit was also approved.

Members of the Tama County EMS Association met with the supervisors to discuss becoming labeled an essential service. The local EMS has been struggling in recent years with funding and personnel.

No action was taken at the meeting, but the wheels are in motion.

The supervisors approved changing this week’s meeting to Tuesday due to the holiday.

The supervisors also took the last step in changing the supervisor districts from three to five.

On April 2, the Treasurer’s office will be closed for training.

The supervisors approved a Traer Golf liquor license.

Toward the end of the meeting, the supervisors approved three property tax sales for Ethan Novotny and one for Emma and Coy Peebles.

Claims totaling $491,794.53 were approved.
