Ridout named Iowa Star South Coach of the Year

Three Redhawk boys basketball players receive All-Conference honors

TRAER – In his first year as head coach of the North Tama boys basketball team, Ryan Ridout has been named the Iowa Star South Coach of the Year.

With Ridout at the helm along with his wife and assistant coach Laura Ridout, the Redhawks finished the 2023-24 season 8-12 (6-5) overall and third in the conference behind Baxter and Colo-NESCO.

Last season under head coach Eric Jesse (also in his first year) North Tama finished 6-16.

The Redhawks made it as far as the Class 1A District 11 semifinals this season after beating BGM 56-50 in overtime in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, North Tama’s postseason ended with a loss, 87-62, to the sixth-ranked, previously undefeated Keota Eagles.

In addition to Ridout’s selection, Redhawk junior Josh Dostal was an All-Conference first team selection. Dostal led his team with 260 points this season (10 3-pointers), 132 rebounds, 26 assists, 27 steals, and 17 blocks.

Redhawk senior Jared Dvorak received a second team selection while sophomore Kayler Morris received honorable mention.
