DYSART – Gloria Hadachek and Kori Hatch are feeling pretty lucky lately and not just because St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner.

The duo – both from Dysart – recently purchased the East Central Region Lucky Wife Wine Slushies franchise territory and ever since have been busily preparing to bring the fruit-based, alcoholic slushies to the counties of Tama, Marshall, Benton, Jasper, and Poweshiek.

“Our daughters have been best friends since preschool so we spent a lot of time together and always went on ‘girl adventures’ through the years. Now that we are both empty nesters we thought it would be fun to do something together and we feel like Lucky Wife Wine Slushies is the perfect fit,” the duo explained in a recent email.

Lucky Wife Wine Slushies was started in the summer of 2022 in Clear Lake, Iowa by owners Jennifer and Jim Flick who previously operated a food truck.

Currently, there are at least nine pink and purple Lucky Wife mobile event trailers on the roads in Iowa – including Hadachek’s and Hatch’s – each offering 19 different flavors of slushies.

“All our slushies do have alcohol in them,” Hadachek and Hatch said. “They taste incredible and we have fun flavors like orangesicle, blue raspberry, vanilla ice cream and margarita to name a few. Our slushies are in a pouch and we sell them with a closed lid. When we are working out of our trailer we will have six slushies flavors to dispense but will also have a freezer of frozen flavors so there is a flavor for everyone!”

The ladies’ first local event is slated for March 28 in Traer – the Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Girls’ Night Out: Sipping with your Peeps, which kicks off at 4 p.m. They also have many town events, festivals, boutiques, store special events, farmer’s markets, car shows, and more on their 2024 calendar.

For every event they book, they are required to obtain an alcohol license which means bookings need to be made at least six weeks in advance in order for the license to be approved by the local government entity.

“We are open to all events so let us know what you have going on in your town and see if we can be there,” the ladies further stated. “Our summer calendar is already filling up fast so don’t wait!”
