Dysart’s third annual ‘Iowa’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade’ set for March 16
DYSART – Dysart’s annual ‘Iowa’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade’ is set to promenade down Main Street for the third year running but with one wee tweak.
“Jenna Scott [of Harper’s Public House] and I thought Saturday would work better for everyone,” Mayor Tim Glenn explained to the newspaper of the decision to move the parade from St. Patrick’s Day – which falls on Sunday, March 17 this year – to the day prior.
The parade – which is billed as a ‘participation parade’ – will thus begin at noon on March 16 from the intersection of Wilson and Main streets near City Hall and proceed exactly one block south to the tip of the Great Dysart Gorge.
Last year, the parade took place amid biting cold temperatures and fierce wind which limited turnout.
“[We’re] hopeful for warmer weather,” Mayor Glenn said when asked if there was anything new to report about the parade other than the date this year.
“Looking forward to a great parade and a beautiful day.”
