Clutier Legion Auxiliary holds sewing day

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday, March 5 at the Clutier post home. Those attending were: Mary S, Linda D, Julia B, Diane C, Pauline S, Deb K, Valerie S, Brenda H, Denise S, Marilyn S, Veronica P and Collette W. Day began at 9 a.m. sewing lap quilts together and cutting plastic bags for crochet sleep mats. We are close to 100 lap quilts and will make that number on April’s sewing day. So far we have delivered 54 lap quilts to VA Hospital in Iowa City. Have 30 more ready to be delivered to Iowa City. Everyone enjoyed a bountiful potluck lunch.

President Veronica conducted the monthly meeting beginning at 1 p.m. Mary S. said prayer and the vacant chair. Veronica took roll and read February minutes. A correction was made and then approved. Treasurer Diane reviewed our finances. Veronica presented a bill for printing and mailing 26 bake sale letters. Diane presented a bill for cleaning supplies. Motion by Collette, seconded by Mary to pay the bills. Motion carried. Diane and Collette sorted and cleaned out our filing cabinet.

We served the funeral lunch for Duane Yung’s family. The workers were: Diane C, Nancy C, Marilyn S, and Jennifer H. The following brought in either dessert or salad: Rita E, Julia B, Collette W, Sharon K, Margaret B, Pauline S, Mary S, Diane C, and Marilyn S. 75 to 80 family members were served.

March 17 is our bake sale which is the same day as Legion’s pancake breakfast. Come and enjoy breakfast and take home a goody from the bake sale.

Tama County joint meeting will be on March 26 at the Clutier post home beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 our unit will have a sewing day with a meeting in the afternoon. Beginning at 9 a.m. with potluck at noon. Monthly meeting in the afternoon. April 10 is scheduled Government Day. April 17 is bingo at IVH in Marshalltown.

Happy birthday was sung to Veronica. Mary S. said the closing prayer and meeting was adjourned.
