TOLEDO – The March 4 Tama County Board of Supervisors’ meeting started like always with the report from the engineer who started out talking about rock — contract rock to be exact. The rock hauling will start this week down south and move on up north.

Interviews will be done soon for a new mechanic.

The K Avenue bridge project is finishing up with some dirt work.

On Friday, March 1, a meeting was held with Manatts and the DOT about the Highway 63 south of Tama project, which is projected to start mid-May. They will start with the shoulder work first then close sections of the highway as they work on a concrete overlay. A right-of-way agreement for E Avenue was approved as well as the bridge construction agreement with the city of Toledo.

The supervisors set the special election canvass date for Tuesday, March 12 at 9 a.m.

Employees from both the auditor’s office and the treasurer’s office were authorized to access the county’s Lincoln Savings Bank account. The employees approved were Laura Kopsa, Karen Rohrs, Amanda Kriegel, and Sara Gilbert.

The supervisors also set up meetings to declare EMS an essential service. The meetings will be on April 29 and May 6, with a reading of the resolution on May 13.

Claims totaling $187,065.43 were approved.
