TAMA – The Mid-Iowa Youth Beef Team is out of the chute for their 2024-25 meetings. Sunday, August, 25, the team welcomed new members with a tailgate at the Tama Livestock Auction. Team alum, Leah Mosher, was our guest speaker. Leah served as our 2018-19 President and continues to serve the agriculture industry as the Executive Assistant to the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture. Leah educated the team about the Iowa Department of Agriculture and encouraged the members to “tell their story” to educate others about our agriculture industry.

Sunday, September 15, the team met back at the Tama Livestock Auction to host guest speaker,

, the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship’s Bureau Chief State Veterinarian. Dr. Kaisand started by explaining the organization’s roles and responsibilities. He then educated members about animal production rules, regulations, and challenges and provided information to deal with those issues. We learned there are numerous ways to ensure the safety of our animals, producers, and consumers.

The team is grateful for the wisdom and knowledge that Ms. Mosher and Dr. Kaisand shared with our team!
