CLUTIER – A local man is facing charges following an incident that took place early last Sunday morning near the Bohemian Blonde bar and grill in downtown Clutier.

Wayne Allan Benson, 41, who lives on Clutier’s Main Street across from the Bohemian Blonde, was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, and charged with two counts of third degree harassment and one count of disorderly conduct/abusive epithets/threatening gesture – all simple misdemeanors.

According to the criminal complaint, just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Benson allegedly stood on the front steps of his residence with a handgun and a shotgun while yelling at two individuals who were located in the public right of way and at a private business in the 300 block of Main Street Clutier. The only business currently in operation in the 300 block is the Bohemian Blonde.

Court documents allege Benson’s display of firearms and yelling made the victims fearful of being attacked. The two victims in the case were adult males aged 33 and 34.

Later on Sunday, Benson entered a plea of not guilty to the charges; he was released that same day on his own recognizance pending trial. A temporary no contact order of protection was issued for the two victims in the case.

Benson’s bench trial has been set for Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m.

No attorney was listed for Benson as of press time.
