Dysart Quilt Block Tour updates

DYSART – Quilts have been part of American history for decades and barn quilt trails or tours have been started in all 99 Iowa counties and in many states to display the folk art of quilting, highlight the rural areas history, and promote tourism.
About 60 homes in Dysart have smaller quilt blocks displayed on their property that add beauty with their color and design. Vision Dysart and the Dysart Chamber of Commerce will be updating the Dysart Quilt Block Tour that was started during the pandemic. A large map is on display showing the locations of the quilt blocks around town at the kiosk on the corner of Main and Wilson Streets; it can be accessed with a smartphone using the QR code.
A tour map can also be downloaded by visiting http://www.facebook.com/dysartquilttour.
If you have added a new quilt block to your property in Dysart and wish to have it added to the tour, call Cathy Wieck at 319 476-7345, or Ruth Schafbuch at 319 961-4122.
The Dysart Quilt Block Tour is a neat way to explore the area. Other attractions are the Dysart Historical Complex, the C.R. Roberts Bike Trail, the Heritage Arboretum as well as shopping and food on Main Street.
