DYSART – As Americans across the country celebrated Independence Day last weekend, Club Dysart hosted the town’s annual Fourth of July celebration on Thursday and Friday with most of the activities held in City Park.

Highlights included the perennially well-attended Dysart Lions Club Grand Parade on Friday, July 4. Parade weather was hot, humid, and sunny – all the ingredients necessary for a stellar Independence Day bash in Iowa.

Dysart Chamber of Commerce President Nicole Taylor rode near the front of the parade in a yellow open-top convertible as the Grand Marshal while Dysart Lions Club Citizen of the Year Reta Callahan rode in similar style but in a maroon set of wheels.

Later that afternoon, the Dysart Pickleball Organization (DPO) along with the City of Dysart officially cut the ribbon on the new Callahan Courts in City Park named in honor of Reta.

Festivities concluded as is tradition with a spectacular fireworks show.
