1) Why are you running for a seat on the Dysart City Council?
I am excited to announce that I am running for my second term on the City Council. Having lived in Dysart for the past 26 years, I have a deep-seated love for our community and a strong desire to continue giving back.
During my first term, I learned a great deal about what it takes to run a city effectively. There are numerous challenges and roadblocks that many people may not be aware of, but I am dedicated to overcoming them and making Dysart an even better place to live.
2) In general, do you feel like Dysart is headed in the right direction, and if not, how would you propose reversing that course?
Dysart is a small rural community, and we’re doing our best to navigate the various challenges we face. We encounter numerous roadblocks that can sometimes hinder our progress, and it can be quite a struggle.
It’s no secret that government processes tend to take longer to get things done, which can add to our difficulties. However, I believe that with our collective efforts and determination, we can overcome these obstacles and continue to make progress for our community.
3) What are the biggest issues facing the City of Dysart in your opinion and how would you like to see those addressed?
[NO RESPONSE PROVIDED]
4) The Union Community School District, which serves Dysart students, has been experiencing a downturn in enrollment over the last decade not unlike other rural public school districts in Iowa. Do you believe the council and the city’s current strategies to attract new residents and businesses are working, and if not, how would you recommend changing them?
The council is fully aware of the downturn in the enrollment in the Union Community School District. We are always looking for opportunities to bring additional business and residents to Dysart.
5) If you received a $1 million grant to use for Dysart any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why?
One of the key areas I would love to focus on is the development of senior living facilities. Our beloved seniors deserve a comfortable and supportive environment.
Moreover, I believe it’s high time we updated our park. Imagine having a vibrant, all-inclusive modern park where families can gather.
6) What are some of your favorite things to do in Dysart?
One of my favorite times of the year, the 4th of July. As a member of Club Dysart, I am fortunate to be part of the wonderful team that helps organize this fantastic event each year. It’s truly heartwarming to see so many people who have moved away come back home to join in the celebrations.
Our small town’s 4th of July festivities are truly something special. The Lions Club Parade is always a highlight, and the Fireman’s Dance never fails to bring the community together for a night of fun and camaraderie. And of course, the fireworks display is a spectacular sight that leaves everyone in awe.
Dysart is blessed to have some of the best businesses in town and add to the charm and spirit of our town. They do an amazing job of putting on events for the communities.
7) Why should people vote for you?
I believe that my qualities of being a caring, hardworking, and loyal person make me a strong candidate for this opportunity.
