Hora-Machacek holds April meeting

CLUTIER – The Hora-Machacek Unit 453 of the American Legion Auxiliary met on April 7 in Clutier with Vice-President Linda calling the meeting to order at 1:40 p.m. There were five members present – Collette Wiebbecke, Linda Dvorak, Julia Babinat, Margaret Babinat and Diane Caloud.

The Pledge and Preamble were recited by those present. The minutes were read and approved as corrected. The Treasurer’s report was given and approved. Bills presented were Bev Colvin for 3 dozen kolaches for Foreign Food Fair; Veronica Pavlicek for stamps and copies for bake sale letters; Diane Caloud for trellises. Bills were approved and paid.

Reports were given on the Bake Sale held in March and the Third District Conference that Diane attended. Those who helped at the Bake Sale were Diane Caloud, Collette Wiebbecke, Margaret Babinet, Bev Colvin and Deb Kupka. We appreciate everyone who brought baked goods, etc for the Bake Sale. Bev Colvin took kolaches to the IVH Foreign Food Fair and her husband Warren helped escort.

Gov’t Day will be held April 8. Deb and Collette will work at it and take cookies. Diane will also be attending. IVH Bingo will be held April 15. Diane is planning on attending. Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the IVH will be April 22. Diane and Linda are planning on attending.

A letter was read from the Iowa Veterans Hospital thanking us for the lap quilts we donated. We have donated 125 since October.

It was approved to get a cube organizer for the hall.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 5. We will meet at 10 a.m. to work on trellises and crosses for Memorial Day. We will have a potluck at noon and the meeting will start at 1:30 p.m.
