Hora-Machacek Unit 453 holds meeting, plans for sewing days
CLUTIER – The Hora-Machacek Unit 453 of the American Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Clutier Legion Hall at 1:30 p.m. There were only four members in attendance. Minutes were read and approved and the treasurer’s report given and placed on file.
Report was given on the County meeting held in Clutier in June. We also helped service the funeral dinner for Pauline Sienknecht and workers were Collette Wiebbecke, Deb Kupka, and Sharon Snoop. Linda Dvorak and Margaret Babinat did the memorial service at the cemetery for Pauline.
Report was given on the Iowa Veterans Home picnic held Aug. 1. We served almost 100 veterans.
Membership is due now and members may send their renewal dues of $30 to Diane Caloud, 2911 Hwy E36, Clutier. You do not need to wait until you receive a renewal notice as National doesn’t send them out until September hoping they don’t have to send out so many.
It was decided to go ahead and start sewing days in September. Sewing will start at 9 a.m. at the Legion Hall on Sept. 1. Potluck lunch at noon and meeting to follow at approximately 1:30. Anyone is welcome to come and help sew, iron, pin or help cut up plastic bags for mats.
If you would like to join the Auxiliary, please contact any member or Diane Caloud.
