TRAER – The Traer Historical Museum is celebrating Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 1-5 p.m. and would like to invite veterans and community members to join at the museum for several activities.

At 2 p.m., Jean Kruse will lead visitors in singing, after which Sharon Stoakes will give a presentation about the history of a plaque found in the Presbyterian Church created in 1942 to honor those who served in WWII.

In addition to the presentation, there will be videos of veteran interviews available for viewing. Also, B. F. Thomas kept a daily journal while serving in the Civil War. In 1907, he published the book “Soldier Life, A Narrative of the Civil War” based on his journals. The Traer Historical Museum will display an original journal and a letter that Thomas wrote to his parents in old Buckingham Village during the war. The book has been reprinted and copies are available at the museum.

Coffee, lemonade, cheese, crackers, and bars will be served.
