Arthur E. Sears, 91

Arthur E. Sears, 91, Hiawatha, Kansas, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

He was born January 1, 1922, to Homer and Mae (Stahl) Sears in Grinnell, Iowa.

He attended Newburg High School for his first two years. He then moved with his folks to a farm near Traer, Iowa where he graduated from Geneseo High School. He farmed near Traer, Dysart and La Porte City, Iowa for twenty-years.

Arthur was married to Elizabeth Gravatt in Traer, Iowa on November 23, 1944. They moved to Cambria, Wisconsin in 1963. He purchased a 120 acreage farm and became involved in the Cambria State Bank. A year later he purchased the controlling stock in the Asherville Kansas Bank and moved the family there. He sold his controlling stock in 1966 and the family moved to Hiawatha, Kansas where he became General Manager of the Victory Life Insurance Company.

He was also a Notary Public. He went into the Black Arabian Business in 1978 and had continued his business until his death.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Ruth, Lois, and Dorothy; and three brothers, Donald, Edgar, and Kenneth.

Survivors: children, Linda Lee (Elzie),La Porte City, Iowa, Marcia Robins, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Elaine Forshee (Keith), Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Michael Sears (Jan),Raymond, Nebraska, Howard Sears (Gail),St. Joseph, Missouri, and Steven R. Sears (Vera), Hutchinson, Kansas; sisters, Wilma Holub and Rhoda Wilkinson; twenty grandchildren; and forty-seven great-grandchildren.
