Donald P. Vojtech, 79

Donald “Don” Paul Vojtech was born on January 14, 1934, in rural Traer, the son of Adolph and Vlasta (Upah) Vojtech. Don graduated from Traer High in 1952. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was stationed in Alaska and served as a sniper. On May 5, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Barbara Waller at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dysart. The couple made their home on a farm south of Traer. Don started working at Traer Utilities as a lineman. He also worked in carpentry, electrical work and on the family farm. Don enjoyed fishing, watching Mash, Star Trek and the Andy Griffith Show. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin where he watched his grandchildren learn to fish and ski. Don was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Traer American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Dan Vojtech of Reinbeck and Steve (Ronda) Vojtech of Grinnell; a brother, Marvin (Beverly) Vojtech of Traer; two grandchildren, Olivia and Blake; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
