Berdell Aldrich, 92

Berdell Aldrich was born on October 30, 1921, on the family heritage farm in rural Garwin, the son of Edwin and Bertha (Lohberger) Aldrich. He attended country school until the 8th grade when he began farming with his father. On April 12, 1944, Berdell was united in marriage to Frances Bwol in Garwin. The couple made their home on the farm and raised six children. Berdell was an original member of the Garwin Lions Club. He and Frances enjoyed ballroom dancing with friends. Berdell had an out-going personality and got along with everyone who knew him. He had a passion for the land, farming, and his family. Berdell died at the age of 92 on March 19, 2014, at the Premier Estates (formerly known as Carrington Place) in Toledo. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Bernice Abels, Lillian Curphy, Eva Greaney, Anita Hines and Viola Murty; and two brothers, Warren and Lawrence Aldrich. Berdell is surivvied by his wife, Frances; four sons, Bob (Lona) Aldrich of Melrose, Allen (Jill) Aldrich of Garwin, Gary (Janice Drury) Aldrich of Garwin and Steve (LeeAnn) Aldrich of Garwin; two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Bischoff of Garnavillo and Karen (Tim) Duden of Gladbrook; two sisters, Mildred Mathern of Arizona and Mary Alice Hatton of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
