Karen K. “Mrs. P” Petersen, 67

Karen K. “Mrs. P” Petersen, 67, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22nd at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Ufkes officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison Bellandi and Katelynn and Adam Vigars.

Karen was born October 30, 1946 at Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter of Dale and Norma (Bookmeier) Grimm. She married Lynn Petersen August 9, 1969 at Dysart, Iowa. Karen is survived by her husband, Lynn; her daughters, Karla (John) Bellandi of Aurora and Amy (Mike) Vigars of Princeton. She also leaves a brother, Dennis (Debra) Grimm of LaPorte City, Iowa; a sister, Kathyrn Grimm of Waterloo, Iowa; and her grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison Bellandi and Katelynn and Adam Vigars; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. She was an active participant with the “Tuesday Swim Girls.” Karen enjoyed sewing and was a quite accomplished seamstress. She dearly loved her family, particularly her grandchildren and watching their various sporting events. She enjoyed watching and cheering for the Chicago Blackhawks. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
