Marvin R. Vogeler, 93
Marvin Raymond Vogeler was born on February 16, 1921, in Faulkton, South Dakota, the son of John and Erma (Border) Vogeler. Marvin grew up in Faulkton and attended Malony County School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 in Africa and Italy. After being honorably discharged, Marvin returned to Faulkton for a short period of time before moving to Tama County, Iowa where he worked at Dike Motors. On May 1, 1946, Marvin was united in marriage to Francis Herwig at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Marvin then farmed in Tama County until 1956 when they moved to Black Hawk County. He continued to farm until his retirement in 1984. Marvin was a member of the La Porte City VFW Post 3983 and enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his family. Marvin died at the age of 93 on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Roberta Tille, Gertrude Junge, Bernice Vogeler, Irene Kanke, Frances Walgamuth, Helen Carr and Leona Formanek; brothers, Harold, Vernon, Clarence, Leonard, Everett and Melvin Vogeler; and a grandson, Chad Vogeler. Marvin is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Loren) Elston of Quincy, Illinois and Diane Yuska of Oelwein, Iowa; two sons, David (Marylou) Vogeler of Dysart and Randy (Deborah) Vogeler of Garrison; two sisters, Bonnie Wuger of Faulkton, South Dakota and Dorothy Gilbert of Boulder City, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Dawn Elston, Daren (Andrea) Elston, Jeremiah (Margarita) Yuska, Daniel (Christina) Yuska, Shane (Stacey) Vogeler, Cherub Vogeler, Nathaniel (Lindsey) Vogeler, and LeeAnn (Graham) Hull; and fourteen great grandchildren, Gage, Morgan, Melanie, Jeremias, Java, Zakary, Jayde, Clayton, Molly, Matthew, Nicholas, Natalie, Emily and Hailee.
