Darlene A. Foley, 87

Darlene Alvena Foley was born on April 30, 1927, in Dysart, the daughter of Henry and Alvena (Stein) Junge. She attended school in Dysart and began working in area cafes as a waitress. On March 5, 1946, Darlene was united in marriage to Melvin Foley in Vinton. The couple made their home in Dysart before moving to Traer in 1950. Darlene then worked for the Traer School systems in the dining room. After Melvin died on December 28, 1978, she began working for Sunrise Hill Care Center in the kitchen. After her retirement, Darlene continued to live in Traer where she was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Darlene died at the age of 87 on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Viola Fink, Leona Schultz and Hilda Kinnard; and two brothers, Eldo Junge and Henry Junge. Darlene is survived by a son, Tom Foley of Marshalltown; a daughter, Donna (Galen) Vesely of Traer; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
