Marshall O. Stilley, 89

Marshall Otto Stilley was born on June 4, 1925, in Plato, Missouri, the son of Charles Harrison and Ada Estelle (Mings) Stilley. Marshall grew up and attended school in Plato. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On January 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Helen Akerman in Clarinda, Iowa. The couple made their home in Shell Rock, Iowa for a short time before settling in Dysart. Marshall farmed in the Dysart area for many years. For the last two years, Marshall lived in Waterloo to be closer to his family. He was a member of the Dysart American legion and enjoyed hunting, gardening and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marshall died at the age of 89 on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; nine brothers; four sisters; and a son in law. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Kathy Ritenour of Waterloo and Karen (Ed) Hau of Waterloo; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
