Violetta “Lettie” E. Schuchart, 97

Violetta “Lettie” Ella (Pippert) Schuchart was born April 29, 1917, in Dysart, daughter of Ben and Marie (Schmidt) Pippert. She was raised in Clark Township and attended Dysart Consolidated School graduating with the Class of 1935. Lettie married Myron Schuchart on June 21, 1938 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. In addition to raising three children the couple farmed for 45 years. In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering for Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, the Dysart Schools, the Lions Club Concession Stand and was an active member of Dysart United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, pies and frozen chocolate chip cookies. Following retirement they wintered at Val Vista Village in Mesa, AZ, where she continued to volunteer. Myron passed away on December 15, 1992, and Lettie continued to winter in Mesa where she had a large community of friends.

Lettie passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Sunrise Hill Care Center of Traer at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Frances Degner, Marie Bendull, and Kathryn Neymeyer; daughter-in-law Joyce Schuchart; and grandson Kurt Schuchart. Lettie is survived by her sons Kelvin (Daphne) Schuchart of Cedar Falls and Don (Kathy) Schuchart of Dysart; daughter Mary (Richard) Holst of Dysart; brother Howard Pippert; sister Dorothy Halupnick of Traer; 7 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Historical Society of Dysart, National Alzheimers Association, or the Dysart United Methodist Church.
