Linda M. Hosek, 68

Linda Marie Hosek, 68, of Clutier, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father David Kucera and Father Ray Atwood as con-celebrants. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Linda was born on March 30, 1948, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Albin and Vera (Parizek) Husak. She grew up in Clutier and graduated from North Tama High School in 1966. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, graduating on June 13, 1969. The following day, she married the only man she ever loved, Duane Hosek, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. They were married forty-seven years and had three girls.

For thirty-eight years, she loved being a nurse, primarily at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. She took a brief break from nursing to be a stay-at-home mom and co-run a catering business. She retired from nursing ten years ago.

Above all else, Linda enjoyed spending time with family. She also loved to nurture and share her flower gardens, win big at the casino, play cards with friends, babysit Wyatt, and fish.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Duane; her daughters, Dione Gisch, Sheri Hosek, and Jana Hosek; her granddaughter, Abby Isbell; sisters, Mary Jo (Kevin) Hennager, Connie (Pat) Schroeder, and Sandra (Terry) Worple; brothers, Tony (Deann) Meirick, Tim (Sheila) Meirick, and Neal (Vicki) Meirick; her father-in-law, Edward Hosek; sister-in-law, Diane Owens; brother-in-law, Dennis (Janet) Hosek; and twenty nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Vera; and her mother-in-law, Joyce Hosek.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to a nursing scholarship to be established and the UIHC Hope Lodge.
