Josephine (JoJo) Ann Augello
Josephine (JoJo) Ann Augello 80, of Traer, died Sunday October 7, 2018 at her home after a lengthy battle of cancer with her family by her side.
JoJo was born on May 6, 1938, daughter of Elmer and Nellie Ruth Downs Gustafson, in Rodman, IA. She attended and later graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Waterloo. It wasnt long after graduation that she married Eugene V. Vogt of Waterloo and had 3 children, but later divorced. JoJo lived and raised her kids in California for many years prior to making Traer her home in 1988 upon the arrival of her first grandbaby.
JoJo wasn’t afraid to work and never minded getting her hands dirty. Over the years, she enjoyed working as a janitor at North Tama School, Traer Manufacturing, Meskwaki Bingo n Casino, various nursing care facilities in the Tama County area and then most recently at Pioneer Hybrid in Toledo, sorting corn in the fall, which she thoroughly enjoyed doing still up until this year.
When JoJo wasn’t busy working, she loved to read, write poetry and crochet. She would crochet lap blankets for the animals at the NT Vet clinic and booties or whatever she could to brighten someones day. Her greatest joy was being Nana to her 6 great-grandsons; Stone, Ryker, Conor, Xander, Owen and Asher and was hoping to meet the newest addition coming in December.
JoJo was survived by her daughter Machelle Johnson of Traer, 2 sons Frank and Randy Vogt of Waterloo, 3 grandchildren, Cassidy Johnson (Zach Mask) of Traer, Parker Johnson (Allie Harmon) of Ozark,MO and Melyssa Thompson-Cowburn (Adam) of Austin,TX.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Traer Country Club on October 27, 2018 at 4pm to all her friends and family who would like to attend.
