Dwayne Luze

Dwayne Carl Luze was born on June 9, 1940, in Mt. Auburn, the son of Carl and Agnes (Hanus) Luze. He graduated from Dysart High School in 1958 and then attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. On July 28, 1962, Dwayne was united in marriage to Lana Lorenz at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dysart. The couple made their home on their farm until they moved to Dysart in 2008. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church until it closed, and then became of member of Zion Lutheran Church. Dwayne started Luze Manufacturing, custom building farm equipment and repairs, in addition to farming. He also joined Carl Luze Real Estate in 1989. Dwayne was extremely proud of Dysart and would help his community however he could. He received several awards for his public service for the betterment of the community. Dwayne was a member of the Dysart Jaycees, Dysart Lion’s Club, and was president of the Dysart Development Corporation until 2020. Dwayne was also on the Dysart Farmers Lumber Company Board, the Board of Review, the Board of Realtors, and was active in the Tama County Economic Development. Dwayne was a part of many other organizations throughout his lifetime, too many to mention. He had a passion for collecting and repairing toy tractors which he carried on from his father. Most importantly, he loved being with his family. Dwayne died at the age of 80 on April 1, 2021, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jane Boorom. Dwayne is survived by his wife, Lana of Dysart; four daughters, Julie (Bret) Elliott of Buckingham, Deb (Rob) Roettger of Dysart, Kim (Ed) Dallago of Swisher, and Mischeale Luze of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren with one on the way. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Please direct memorials to Dwayne’s family, a donation will be made on his behalf at a later date.
