Marjorie Ann Foster

DYSART — Marjorie Ann Foster was born on January 22, 1931, on a farm south of Dysart, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Nelson) Degner. She attended Clark No 9 Country School until 7th grade and then went to town school, graduated with the Dysart High School class of 1948. While growing up on the farm, she helped with all of the chores including, milking cows, feeding chickens, ducks, and geese, gardening, canning, ironing, and laundry. In 1950, her family moved to town. Marjorie was united in marriage to John Foster on November 24, 1950 at the UEB Church in Dysart. The couple moved back to the farm where Marjorie continued to help with all of the chores. They raised 3 children, Don, Randy, and Linda. Marjorie also worked for Funks Seed Corn, Evergreen Hatchery, Sunnycrest Nursing Home, and Pioneer Seed Corn. She loved her entire family very much and had a special bond with her grandson, Justin. She will be deeply missed by her family, but her love will always be with them. Marjorie died at the age of 90 on October 7, 2021, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Randy Foster; and grandson, Ronnie Tharp; her brothers, Herbert, Homer, Dean, Gerald, and Billy; and a sister, Carol Jean Degner. Marjorie is survived by a son, Don Foster of Tama; a daughter, Linda (Ed) Felts of Dysart; grandson, Justin (Danielle) Tharp of Vinton; 5 great grandchildren, Nicole, Daniel John, Quincy, Sophia, and Raelynn; 3 great great grandchildren; Aiden, Eva, and Everly; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Dysart United Methodist Church with the visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dysart Cemetery.
