John Lang

John Lang, age 84, of Traer, died October 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his wife and surviving children after an extended battle with cancer.

An open house/visitation will be held Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Traer at the Lang farm at 1:00 until 4:00 PM.

John Richard Lang was born May 31, 1937 in Grinnell, Iowa, youngest child of James Russell and Agnes (Graham) Lang. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1955 and graduated from Iowa State University. In 1976, John moved to Traer and became co-owner of Sealock Ag Service, retiring in 2007.

John was passionate about biking, gardening, goats, dancing, garden tractors, travelling, cars (especially adding trailer hitches to small cars), music, spending time with family, and meeting new friends everywhere he went. Favorite travels have included two trips to Alaska, through all the Canadian Provinces, sea to shining sea, Key West to the Rio Grande, and to numerous National Parks with wife Rosie (Miller) Lang after his retirement.

He is survived by his loving family; wife, Rosie; children, David Lang of Grinnell, Elizabeth Lang of Sterling, Virginia, Christiana (Justin) Wiebbecke of Baxter, Levi (Jill) Sires of Waterloo, John (Brooke) Sires of Cedar Falls, and Luke (Katie) Sires of Waterloo; sisters, Jane Thompson of Grinnell and Carol Shaner of North Shore Lake, Michigan; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes Lang; sisters, Kathryn Larson and Grace Davidson; brothers, James Lang and Eugene Lang; son, Kevin Lang; and wife, Elaine Lang.
