Jack Stephen Bohls

Jack Stephen Bohls was born August 9, 1953 in Fredericksburg, TX and died peacefully on December 27, 2021 in Des Moines, IA.

Jack was preceded in death by Father, Beth Boyce (BB) Bohls; Mother, Lydia (Lindig) Bohls, Sisters: Kathleen Rader and Carolyn Love and Brother, John Mark Bohls.

He is survived by wife, Barbara (Wieck) Bohls; daughter, Valerie (Brian) Jergens; two grandchildren, Tabitha Jergens and Nolan Jergens; sister-in-law, Lou Bohls; nephews, Thomas Bohls and his son, Blake Bohls; Craig Reson, Zane Hantsche and Byron Hantsche; and nieces, Penny Bohls, Lisa Crenwelge and Rebecca (Becky) Vaughn.

Jack graduated from high school in Fredericksburg, TX and then went on to Texas A & I College in Kingsville. He was a band director for 9 years at two different schools in Texas. He left teaching and began working at Data Com in Richardson, TX where he was a Tech Writer. He was contracted out to Martin Marietta, Denver, CO to train pilots on the F14 missile guidance systems.

He responded to God’s call and graduated from Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest in Austin, TX in 1992. He was pastor at the following churches: Zion Lutheran, Castroville; St. Stephen Lutheran, Portland; Prince of Peace Lutheran, Taylor and Immanuel Lutheran, Taylor; and retired from St. John Lutheran, Jourdanton May 2021; all in Texas.

Services will be at Lutheran Church of Hope + Elim, Des Moines, on January 8, 2022 at 10:30am. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service and a luncheon following the service.
