Don “Don Ho” Miyagawa

Don “Don Ho” Miyagawa, 79.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of our great friend “Don Ho’s” passing on May 17, 2022, at the age of 79 in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. with his family by his side.

Don had may stints in law enforcement beginning in California. He was police chief in Cascade before coming to Monticello to join our law enforcement team. He loved his job and his officer friends. He loved the citizens of our community and always wanted better for Monticello, becoming mayor of Monticello. Don worked security for many years at the Great Jones County Fair. He also worked at Kelly’s Country Oven (mostly enjoying the BS with customers). Don was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

Don is survived by two children, Frank and Vicky, and niece Kimmy and Juan, whom he lived with in California.

Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, extended family and his beloved Theone.

Before Don’s passing he volunteered at the nursing home in California which eventually would become his final home where he passed.

You will be missed “Ho.” You put many smiles on many faces throughout life. “Fly high like an Eagle,” the memories we will cherish!
