David Earl Mask

David Earl Mask was born on June 21, 1952, the son of Ralph and Bertha (Foley) Mask. He graduated from Dysart Geneseo High School in 1970 and then attended Kirkwood Community College, majoring in computer operations. David was married to Michelle Hathcock and later divorced. To the union 2 sons were born. David worked at National Bank and Schoitz Hospital before moving to Montana for 2 years to work on HVAC. He then returned to Iowa to work for Seiferts and then owned and operated Mask Computers. Most recently, he was a freelance IT contractor. David enjoyed restoring old cars, especially his 1954 Ford panel truck with actual 5-gallon buckets for bucket seats, 1949 Willy’s and 1965 Comet. You could always find David with his head under a hood. He shared his love for computers with his sons, who were his pride and joy.

David died at the age of 70 on July 15, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Llona Neuman, Leta Kopriva, Richard Mask and Daniel Mask; a brother-in-law, Dean Splittgerber; and a nephew, Mark Neuman.

David is survived by 2 sons, Andrew (Dannie Knuckey) Mask, of North Liberty, and Jacob (Macy Helle) Mask, of Denver, Colorado; 3 siblings, Jeri Splittgerber, Bruce Mask and Joel (Julie) Mask; 3 grandchildren: Haylie, Hayden and Andrew Mask; a brother-in-law, Larry Kopriva; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer.
