Glen Walter Gaston, 65

Glen Walter Gaston was born on January 12, 1957, the son of Walter and Jane (Bradley) Gaston. Glen grew up in Traer and graduated from Waterloo Central High School in 1975. He then served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1979. Glen worked for Rath Packing until 1984. He then became a certified welder and worked for Max’s Auto Body until 1988. Glen then worked for Traer Manufacturing until his retirement in 2008. On June 29, 1985, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Kroeger. The couple made their home in Traer where they raised their family. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, telling stories, riding his bike, taking his dog on long walks, family get-togethers and spending time with his grandkids. Glen died at the age of 65 on July 16, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Glen is survived by his wife; his mother; 2 children, Wayne (Jasmine) Gaston, of La Porte City, and Casaundra Gaston, of Waterloo; 3 sisters, Imogene “Birdie” McNeal, Mary Lou Miller and Wanda (Frank) Martinez; 3 grandchildren: Wesley, Alyson and Savanna; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral will be on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer. The burial will follow at Buckingham Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Traer American Legion. The visitation will be on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Overton Funeral Home.
