Mildred Esther Dengler

Mildred Esther Dengler, 98, of Traer, Iowa, died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center in Traer. Mildred was born on October 2, 1923, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Alice Wilken. She graduated with the class of 1941 from Gladbrook High School and later attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. She worked at John Deere Tractor Works and National Bank of Waterloo. On February 16, 1947, she married Vernon Ernest Dengler, of Dysart, Iowa, and they farmed west of Dysart. Mildred was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dysart.

She is survived by her daughter Marsha Dengler, of Waterloo, and her son Mark (Sandra) Dengler, of Dysart, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Rachel (Drew) McLaughlin, of St. Paul, MN, Derrick (Hannah) Dengler, of Montezuma, IA, and Sean (Kim) Dengler, of Urbandale, IA; 3 great-grandchildren: Hayes Dengler, Bram McLaughlin and Grady Dengler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; sisters and brothers-in-law Janice (William) Evans and Joan (Earl) Strohecker.

The funeral was Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart with visitation for an hour prior to the service. The burial followed at Dysart Cemetery. Overton Funeral Home in Dysart is assisting the family.
