Beulah Rae Upah, 82

Beulah Rae Upah, 82, of Marshalltown and formerly of Tama, passed away November 6, 2022, at home at Bickford of Marshalltown under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 9:30-11 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with a Memorial Mass following at 11:00 AM at the church with Father Michael McAndrew as celebrant. Friends are welcome to join the family at the Church Parish Center following the Mass for food and fellowship. Interment will be held at a future date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama.

Beulah was born on November 2, 1940, in Montezuma, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Geneva (Hockey) Tish.

She graduated from Brooklyn High School.

On June 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Paul Upah at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, Iowa. Beulah worked part time at Pioneer for thirty-two years and helped with in home physical therapy. She also worked as a Secretary at the Juvenile Home in Toledo.

Beulah was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama where she was very active and involved in CCW. Beulah was a cancer survivor and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years. She received an award at Curves for being the longest standing member. Beulah loved playing cards and was in a card group. She was a Pillsbury Dough Boy collector.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Paul, of Marshalltown; her children: Becky Powell, of Columbia, MO, Karen Swenson (Jerry Fuller), of Toledo, and Pam (Dave) Rickertsen, of Clinton; seven grandchildren: Andy Patterson, of Charlotte, NC, Kellie (Bryan) Burger, of Columbia, MO, Brittany Powell (Jake Bowan), of Columbia, MO, and Rochelle Childs (Alex Strehle), of Clinton, Cody Childs (Courtney Ubben), of Des Moines, Erin Patterson (Jeff Lopshire), of Eldridge, and Nina (Bryan) Anderson, of Toledo; seven great grandchildren: Brenden and Christopher Burger, Remington Bowman, Henry Lopshire, Braydan, Raena and Beckett Anderson; one sister, Dorothy Braaskma, of Oskaloosa; one brother, LaVerne Tish, of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Dale Tish; and one sister, Pauline Vincent.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
