Richard William Renzo
Richard William Renzo was born May 2, 1939, on his grandfather’s farm in Salona, near Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; son of Frank and Mary (Reish) Renzo. He attended Waterloo West High School, then graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa. While he was earning his Master’s Degree, Richard worked full time at John Deere. He married Nancy Kay Wildhagen on October 24, 1959, in Waterloo, she preceded him in death on April 23, 2011. After graduation, he was the Principal at North Tama Community Schools, Cal Community then Belle Plaine. Richard went to work for Car Quest, where he sold auto parts. After retirement, he was a bartender at the Traer Country Club. Richard was a very social person and loved spending time with his family. He was a fantastic cook, enjoyed golf and playing in card clubs with his friends in Traer and Belle Plaine.
Richard passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, at the age of 83.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife and two great granddaughters, Selena and Bella.
Richard is survived by son, Anthony Renzo, of Traer; daughter, Tamara Johnson, of Marion; three grandchildren: Jason Van Nevel, Jenny Gutierrez and Jeff Van Nevel; five great grandchildren: Cheyanna Carrera, Breanna Peters, Savanna Van Nevel, Elysia Severson and Mia Perez and sister, Dolores (Kyle) Cross, of Cedar Rapids.
