Ida Marie Kosnar, 106

Ida Marie Kosnar, 106, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center in Traer. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Traer with Father Anthony Nketiah as Celebrant. Visitation was held at the church from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery, Traer.

Ida is survived by two daughters: Barbara Merchant and Marilyn Nagel, both of Traer; five grandchildren: Craig, Kellie, Jolie, Raquel and Angela; twelve great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Dale Suhr.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Suhr; grandson, Jeffrey Nagel and sons-in-law, Tom Merchant and Jon Nagel.

Ida was born September 13, 1916, in rural Traer, the daughter of Vince and Julia (Salasek) Axler. She attended Stormy Point country school. On May 27, 1941, Ida was united in marriage to Albert Kvidera in Clutier and together they enjoyed flying.

He preceded her in death on March 24, 1948. On June 30, 1953, she married Joseph Kosnar in Traer. Together they enjoyed the farm and traveling. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1996.

Early in life, Ida enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, knitting and intricate needlework. When the care center became her home, her joy came from listening to accordion music and playing Bingo. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Traer Garden Club.

A memorial fund has been established.
