Helen Mae Logan, 103

On August 13th, a Sunday, her favorite day of the week, Helen Mae Logan, at the amazing age of 103 entered heaven to finally meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Helen was born on July 9, 1920, in Dysart, IA, the daughter of Thomas and Lennora (Ford) Winter. Helen graduated from Dysart High School and continued her education at the University of Iowa. Helen spent her career working as a secretary for the North Tama Elementary School and also as a bank teller. Helen loved her church family and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Traer/Dysart. She was also a faithful member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church, after moving to Cedar Falls.

Helen was an accomplished watercolor artist, and she was an original member of the “Thursday Painters” at the Cedar Falls Hearst Center. She was also a longtime member of the Iowa Watercolor Society.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Pamela (John) Sternberg, of Urbandale, Laurie (Gary) Richter, of Reinbeck; her son, Tom (Dolores Huerta) Logan, of Corpus Christi, TX; 6 grandkids: Allison (David) Davis, Jennifer (Greg) von der Lippe, Spencer (Michelle) Logan, Justin (Cana) Caslavka, Jamie (Jammie) Riffey and Jason (Jennifer) Caslavka; her brother, Donald Winter, of Bella Vista, AR; and ten great grandkids.

Helen is preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Logan; son, Gregory Logan; grandson, Gregory Sternberg; her sister, Merle Hartzler; and four brothers, Meredith, James, Paul and Roge Winter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in Cedar Falls. A visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at church.
