Scott R. Klinzing, 65

Scott R. Klinzing, 65, passed away September 2, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Scott was born on June 18th, 1958, and grew up on farm in Dysart, Iowa. He was the son of Robert “Dean” Klinzing and Lois Marian (Hahn) Klinzing. He graduated from Dysart-Geneseo High School in 1976. He attended Iowa State and Hawkeye Tech where he obtained a Police Science Degree. He then finished his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa. He married Donna Ribby on August 28th, 1982. Together, they had two daughters Kate Klinzing, of Willard, MO and Amanda Klinzing, of Springfield, MO.

In 1983, he began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and retired in 2010 after 26 years of service. After retiring from the Federal Medical Center in Springfield, MO, he briefly worked campus security at Missouri State and OTC before moving to his dream home on Grand Lake in Wyandotte, Ok. His greatest joy at his lake house was waiting for pelicans to migrate every Spring and Fall. He also loved fishing in his cove and feeding his hummingbirds.

He is survived by his wife Donna, his two daughters Kate and Amanda, his grandchildren, Mason and Lillian Livingston, of Willard, MO, his brother Randall Klinzing (Karen), of Tonica, IL, his sister Sue Jahn (Randy), of Chicago, IL, and along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

A visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10th from 2pm-4pm. The burial takes place Monday, September 11th at 2pm at Turner’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri providing a final resting place for Scott.
