Arlene Pippert

Arlene I. Pippert was born on January 4, 1933, in Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Luella (Bodle) Tomlinson, of Traer. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Traer and received her education in the Dinsdale Consolidated School, graduating with the class of 1950. Arlene worked as a secretary for D. H. Hyland Agency in Traer for 3 years. On September 12, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard D. Pippert, of Dysart, at Amity United Presbyterian Church in rural Reinbeck. They made their home on the Pippert farm southwest of Dysart, where they raised their 2 sons, James and Dale. Arlene was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church, Rebekah Circle and was a charter member of 20th Century Department of the Dysart Women’s Club. She enjoyed the many bicycling trips with Richard, Winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, quilting and bridge. Arlene died at the age of 90 on December 28, 2023, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 4 brothers, 2 in infancy, Ervin and John; and 2 sisters-in-law, Marge Tomlinson and Jeanette Tomlinson. Arlene is survived by 2 sons, James, of Dysart, and Dale (Janet), of Wilmington, Delaware, and their son, Zachary (Kristabelle), of Boise, Idaho; 3 nephews, Gary (Barb) Tomlinson, of Waterloo, Craig (Cheri) Tomlinson, of Peoria, Arizona, and Paul (Merrilee) Tomlinson and their sons, Christopher and Mathew, of Cary, North Carolina; a niece, Linda (Leo) Lohse, of Gladbrook, and their son, John (Rebecca) Lohse, of Traer, and their daughter, Jody Lohse, of Elkhart; and many friends.

The funeral will be on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at the Dysart United Methodist Church. The visitation will be on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Dysart United Methodist Church. The burial will be in Dysart Cemetery. Overton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
