Steven Raub

Steven “Steve” Palmer Raub was born on October 31, 1946, in Waterloo, the son of Earl and LaVaun (Palmer) Raub. Steve lived in Dysart his entire life and graduated from Dysart High School in 1965. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1966 to 1971. On April 16, 1966, Steve was united in marriage to Cheryl Schlotterbeck. Steve worked for the Tama Benton Elevator and was a feed salesman for Wiecks Feed and Livestock. He began farming in 1983 and especially enjoyed combining. Steve loved baseball. He played competitive baseball until he was 40 years old and also played softball for the Old Timers in Dysart. He also enjoyed playing golf, going on golf trips with his friends, going on fishing trips to Canada, and playing cards. Steve died at the age of 77 on March 12, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Steve is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Dysart; a daughter, Stephanie Price, of Arizona; a son, Bill Raub, of Dysart; 2 grandchildren, Trevor and Elizabeth Price, of Arizona; a brother, Rex (Judy) Raub, of Dysart; 2 sisters, Rita (Tim) Hammes, of Iowa City, and Renee (Mike) Droll, of Parker, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the Dysart United Methodist Church. The burial will follow at Dysart Cemetery with military rites. The visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2014, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM, with a Masonic Service at 6:30, at the Dysart United Methodist Church.
