Rebecca Lister Zozaya
Rebecca Lister Zozaya of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Traer, passed away at her home on May 28, 2024
Rebecca was born on December 30, 1957 to Jarold and Aileen Lister and grew up in Milo and Traer, Iowa. She graduated from North Tama High School, Marshalltown Community College and the University of Northern Iowa. Rebecca married Reinaldo Zozaya of Caracas, Venezuela on July 7, 1979. They made their home in Cedar Falls before moving to the Charleston, SC area where they remained throughout her life.
Rebecca was an elementary school teacher in the Charleston County Schools and retired from Midland Park Elementary School. She was a dedicated and talented educator and maintained special relationships with many of her students.
Rebecca was an animal lover, devoted to her golden retrievers and an unselfish supporter of animal rescue. She also loved music, antiquing, baking and serving as a tour guide when family and friends visited Charleston. Her smile was beautiful, her laugh infectious.
She is survived by her husband Reinaldo Zozaya; sister Rozella Lister Stull (John;) niece Megan Stull, husband Kevin Deeny and daughter Ella; niece Melissa Stull, husband Jason Burgart and their children Emma and Lucas; and her lifelong best friend Margaret Sevcik Dedic.

An interment service will be held on Monday, July 8 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer. Friends and family are welcome to attend the service, to be followed by a “Sweet Tea and Treats” gathering in the Community Room of the Traer Public Library.
