Phillip Gajewsky

Phillip James Gajewsky, 94, passed away Friday, April 18th 2025, in the presence of his family and in the care of hospice at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living Residence in Highland Village, Texas.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 23rd, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, Iowa, where Phil was an active member from 1967 until moving to Texas in January of 2024.
Phil was born on July 29, 1930, the son of Ernest and Susan (Brandau) Gajewsky in Norwalk, Wisconsin. He joined the US Marines in 1951 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. Phil married Laura See on July 5, 1958, and worked as a home-to-home delivery milkman for Anderson Erickson Dairy for 38 years.
Phil was a devoted member of the Dysart Lions Club serving the community for 58 years. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time observing nature. He traveled often and broadly. Phil found joy in his family, watching corn grown in the fields of Iowa, spending winters in Florida, watching birds on the birdfeeders and completing word searches and puzzles. He was a man of quiet presence, steady provision and steadfast love.
Phil is survived by his wife of 67 years, Laura; 3 children: Denise Gajewsky, Steve (Sue) Gajewsky, and Scott (Zina) Gajewsky: 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Dick (Eileen) Gajewsky, step-sister Harriet (Dave) Benedict, nieces and nephews.
Along with being preceded in death by his parents, Phil was also preceded in death by three brothers: Allen, Clifton (died shortly after birth) and Paul (died as a young child); four sisters: Muriel, Ruby, Janet and Alice; step-mom: Lena; and five step-sisters: Olive, Eunice, Virginia, Opal and Helen.
